General Troubleshooting Guideline
Check:
  1. MUST USE original A/C power adaptor that shipped with the unit attached. To verify that you have the proper A/C adaptor please click here to check the product contents and select your proper model.
  2. Please make sure the latest BIOS and software component is installed.  To check the BIOS version installed on your notebook, goto Start->Control Panel-> HWSetup->General Tab.   To check the latest BIOS available, please check the Drivers  page of our website.
  3. Please backup your data and perform a Toshiba system recovery (WARNING: All personal data will be lost).  Please use your computer for a day without installing any additional software.  If everything is normal, continue to install one application at a time, until problem re-occurs.
  4. It is strongly recommended to backup all IMPORTANT files/data.
  5. Please check Technical Support Bulletins for your product.  Type in your model and select Support Bulletins.
  6. Please ensure your work area is a hard flat surface, dust and static free.
  7. Remove any accessories or peripherals attached to the unit.
  8. If your system has stopped working properly after installing a new software program, please uninstall the program.
  9. If your system has stopped working properly after installing a new driver, please uninstall the driver, or run system restore.
  10. If you are getting a specific error message, please write down the error message and do an internet search of the message (ie: google)
  11. If you suspect a hardware malfunction, run the “PC Diagnostic Tool” (Start, All Programs, Toshiba, Utilities, PC Diagnostic Tool)
  12. For 3rd party hardware/software compatibility issues please refer to the 3rd party manufactures website or users guide.
